Testing Applications

  1. Research and Development (R&D) Labs

R&D Applications are generally bench-top applications, using laboratory-grade test equipment.  This class of test equipment is usually not designed to be used for field use.   A multi-user interface, and extensive remote or command language control of the equipment us often required.  R&D applications are used in the design and verification test for emerging technologies.  Strict adherence to the applicable specs and interoperability with other types of similar test equipment designs also fall into this category of Test.

  2. Manufacturing Test

The Manufacturing Test application are distinguished by the requirement to perform multiple, functional tests of a given technology.  Speed, Accuracy, Reliability, Repeatability, Scalability, and Remote or Automatic Control are all factors taken into consideration in this class of test equipment.

  3. Field Test

Test equipment designed for field use must be portable, rugged, and cost-effective.  Other considerations often include battery operation, test result storage and reporting functions, and operation under various environmental conditions.

  4. Private Networks (Government and Enterprise Ntwks)

Private Network Applications concern themselves with verification of Communication Application on the Network. It's generally not enough to simply trust a Network Provider with adhering to a pre-agreed upon level of Service. Often, a Private Network operator will have several competing Providers in their Network.  Isolating the problematic links in a Network is the first step toward resolving problems.  Test equipment in this class of test is usually mult-function, follows recognized standards for measuring performance, and has extensive reporting functions over time.
